Global Evidence Summit 2017: networking sessions between senior health researchers and studentsTuesday, 17 Oct 2017
In September 2017, more than 1300 people from 75 countries gathered together for the first ever Global Evidence Summit. The Global Evidence Summit was the first time that Cochrane, The Campbell Collaboration, Guidelines International Network, International Society for Evidence-based Health Care, and Joanna Briggs Institute have joined forces to create this premiere event in evidence-based policy. The theme of the Summit was ‘Using evidence. Improving lives’ and aimed to advance the use of reliable research evidence in addressing some of the world’s most serious health and social challenges.
During the Summit, Taryn Young, Director of the Centre for Evidence-based Health Care and part of the Global Organizing Committee, ran networking sessions between senior health researchers and students. Various young researchers and postgraduate students from all over the world attended the Global Evidence Summit. A dedicated networking space was organised in the exhibition area, creating a relaxed atmosphere for participants to meet. Eleven senior researchers partook, each meeting with about 2 to 4 young/junior researchers. The sessions took place during the tea and lunch breaks of the Summit. Each session was 15 to 30 minutes and participants were very pleased with the interaction and mentoring, and most exchanged contact details before departing.
